The pmx format is now two years old. In the second link Arctic-P talks about the history of the format and how all that happened. Google translate actually made a decent enuff job this time.

As you can see on the table, PMX 2.1 cannot be used on MMD, in fact it is being more and more developed to meet the specifications of MikuMikuMoving aka MMM.

Just found out via a tutorial that you can now export .pmd files to .obj!
OMG! The way to meta is open!
Now if I ONLY had a comp that would allow me to export....*sigh*
